14-DAY HIGHLITS PRIVATE TOUR
DAY 1 | ARRIVAL IN BEIJING (Airport Pickup · Hotel Transfer · Free Time)
Welcome to China! Upon arrival in Beijing, your private driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you comfortably to your hotel. After check-in, the rest of the day is yours to relax and recover from the journey.
Depending on your arrival time, you may take a short walk around the neighborhood, try your first local meal, or simply enjoy a quiet evening before your journey through China officially begins.
Highlights: Easy arrival, private airport transfer, time to rest and adjust
DAY 2 | IMPERIAL BEIJING (Forbidden City · Temple of Heaven)
Begin with two of Beijing’s most important imperial landmarks. Explore the Forbidden City, the vast palace complex where Ming and Qing emperors lived and governed for centuries. Walk through ceremonial courtyards, richly decorated halls and layered palace gates while your guide explains court life, imperial rituals and the ideas behind traditional Chinese architecture. Later, visit the Temple of Heaven, where emperors prayed for good harvests. The surrounding park also offers a glimpse of everyday Beijing, with locals exercising, singing, dancing and socializing.
DAY 3 | THE GREAT WALL & OLD BEIJING(Great Wall · Lama Temple · Shichahai Hutongs)
Travel to the Great Wall and walk along ancient watchtowers and mountain ridges, taking in one of China’s most iconic landscapes. Rather than simply stopping for photos, spend enough time on the wall to feel its scale and engineering. Return to central Beijing for the Lama Temple, one of the city’s most important Tibetan Buddhist temples, then continue to Shichahai and the surrounding hutongs. Narrow lanes, courtyard houses and lakes reveal a more intimate side of old Beijing and show how local residents have lived within the historic city for generations.
DAY 4 | BEIJING TO XI’AN(High-Speed Train · Bell & Drum Towers · Muslim Quarter)
Take China’s high-speed train to Xi’an, one of the country’s great ancient capitals and a key eastern gateway of the historic Silk Road. After arrival, explore the city center around the Bell Tower and Drum Tower before heading into the lively Muslim Quarter. Food stalls, small restaurants and local shops fill the narrow lanes, offering an easy introduction to Xi’an’s distinctive food culture and the multicultural influences created by centuries of Silk Road exchange.
DAY 5 | THE LEGENDS OF ANCIENT XI’AN(Terracotta Warriors · Giant Wild Goose Pagoda · Grand Tang Mall)
Discover the Terracotta Warriors, one of the world’s great archaeological sites. Thousands of life-sized soldiers, horses and chariots were created more than 2,000 years ago for the mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang, China’s first emperor. Your guide will explain the rise of the Qin empire, the excavation story and the craftsmanship behind the figures. Later, visit the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda area, closely linked with Buddhist exchange along the Silk Road. After dark, explore Grand Tang Mall, where performances, lights, traditional costumes and Tang-inspired architecture evoke the cosmopolitan spirit of one of China’s most prosperous dynasties.
DAY 6 | XI’AN CITY WALL & CHENGDU(Xi’an City Wall · High-Speed Train to Chengdu · People’s Park)
Start at the Xi’an City Wall, one of the best-preserved ancient city walls in China. Walk along the broad ramparts or ride a bicycle on top for a clear view of the contrast between the historic old city and modern Xi’an. Later, take the high-speed train to Chengdu. After arrival, slow the pace at People’s Park. Sit in a traditional teahouse, watch locals drinking tea, chatting and playing mahjong, and experience the relaxed rhythm that has become part of Chengdu’s identity.
DAY 7 | PANDAS & CHENGDU AT YOUR OWN PACE(Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding · Free Time)
Start early for one of the journey’s most anticipated experiences: giant pandas. Visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, home to pandas of different ages. Morning is generally the best time to see them active, eating bamboo, climbing or playing. Learn about panda habitats, breeding programs and conservation work before enjoying a deliberately flexible afternoon. Explore Chengdu at your own pace, try local snacks, visit a café or market, book a massage, or simply rest.
DAY 8 | CHENGDU TO CYBERPUNK CHONGQING(Jiefangbei · Kuixing Tower · Hongya Cave · Hotpot)
Take the high-speed train to Chongqing, a city built across steep mountains and between the Yangtze and Jialing rivers. Begin at Jiefangbei, the energetic heart of downtown, then explore Kuixing Tower to understand Chongqing’s famous vertical cityscape: a place that looks like street level from one side can be more than twenty floors above another street. As night falls, visit Hongya Cave, where layered traditional-style buildings glow beside the river and modern skyline. End the day with an authentic Chongqing hotpot dinner.
DAY 9 | CHONGQING’S VERTICAL CITY & TO ZHANGJIAJIE( Cableway · Liziba Monorail · Train to Zhangjiajie)
Continue exploring Chongqing’s remarkable urban engineering. Ride the Yangtze River Cableway across the river for elevated views of bridges, hills and the dense skyline. Then visit Liziba, where the monorail passes directly through a residential building — a striking example of how transport infrastructure adapts to the city’s steep terrain. After experiencing two of Chongqing’s most distinctive transport icons, continue by train to Zhangjiajie. Check in and rest before the mountain portion of the journey begins.
DAY 10 | ZHANGJIAJIE NATIONAL FOREST PARK(Avatar-style Peaks · Scenic Lifts · Mountain Viewpoints)
Spend a full day inside Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, famous for thousands of slender sandstone pillars rising through clouds and forest. Depending on weather and local operating conditions, explore major scenic areas and viewpoints using the park’s shuttle buses, cableways and elevators to reduce unnecessary climbing. The landscape is often associated with the floating-mountain imagery of Avatar, but its real appeal is the extraordinary scale of the quartz-sandstone formations, deep valleys and constantly changing mountain mist. Your guide will arrange the day to balance the best viewpoints with a comfortable walking pace.
DAY 11 | TIANMEN MOUNTAIN(Mountain Cableway · Cliffside Scenery · Tianmen Cave)
Discover Tianmen Mountain, one of Zhangjiajie’s most dramatic scenic areas. Ride the long mountain cableway from the city toward the summit and enjoy sweeping views as the landscape rises beneath you. Walk along high-altitude cliffside paths and, when conditions allow, visit the famous Tianmen Cave — a huge natural arch opening through the mountain. The combination of cableways, winding mountain roads, vertical cliffs and cloud-filled views makes this a very different experience from the forest park on the previous day.
DAY 12 | ZHANGJIAJIE TO SHANGHAI (Flight to Shanghai · The Bund at Night)
Leave the mountains behind and fly to Shanghai, China’s most internationally recognizable modern metropolis. After hotel check-in and a short rest, head to the Bund in the evening. On one side stand historic waterfront buildings that reflect Shanghai’s trading past; across the Huangpu River rises the futuristic skyline of Pudong. Seeing both sides together is one of the clearest visual summaries of Shanghai — a city where different eras of Chinese history meet in a single panorama.
DAY 13 | CLASSIC SHANGHAI & A JIANGNAN WATER TOWN(Yu Garden · Old City · Zhujiajiao Water Town)
Begin at Yu Garden, a classical Chinese garden filled with pavilions, rockeries, ponds and winding paths that create carefully framed views within a compact space. Explore the surrounding old-city atmosphere before leaving central Shanghai for Zhujiajiao, a historic water town shaped by canals, stone bridges and traditional riverside houses. A walk through the lanes — and, where suitable, a short boat ride — offers a gentler final-day contrast to Shanghai’s skyscrapers and shows another side of life in the Yangtze River Delta.
DAY 14 | DEPARTURE FROM SHANGHAI(Hotel Breakfast · Airport Transfer · Departure)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and some free time depending on your flight schedule. Your private driver will meet you at the agreed time and transfer you to the airport for your departure. Your 14-day journey ends after experiencing China through imperial capitals, local neighborhoods, giant pandas, dramatic mountain cities, extraordinary natural landscapes and the modern energy of Shanghai.
